This page lists Northern New York waterfalls by river
Due to issues with the scripting we used for the menu-driven list we
formerly used, this page has been created.
Each of the following groups are
headed with the name of a river or stream, listed in boldface font, that flow
directly into Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River, Lake Champlain or
the Atlantic Ocean. Below this header, in the left-most column,
are the waterfalls on that waterway and tributaries that flow into it, in order, from the mouth of the waterway and heading upstream.
Each subsequent column lists waterfalls and waterways on the
tributaries.
For example, the first group lists the Ausable
River. Ausable Chasm, Alice Falls and Anderson Falls are
waterfalls on the Ausable. The West Branch enters the Ausable
upstream of Anderson Falls. On this branch, the first waterfall
you encounter as you head upstream is Wilmington Flume. Stag Brook
enters the West Branch upstream of Wilmington Flume and contains Stag
Brook Falls.
A simple rule of thumb for using this page is that
waterfalls are listed as a link to the page for that falls. They
will show up in blue before you activate the link. When you point
your mouse at the link, it will turn a bright red and then will be a
fainter red
after visiting that page. Any listing not linked (shown in black)
is a waterway. To the right of the waterway are the waterfalls on
that stream and tributaries to it. We are providing a menu to
allow users to hyper-text to each river.
