Jenny Creek Upper Falls

Just east of the hamlet of Pitcairn, which is east of Harrisville, look for the Jayville Road, which exits south from NY 3.  Coming from the east on Route 3, it is 3.9 miles from the intersection of St. Lawrence County Route 23.  Drive up this road for 2.6 miles (1.6 miles past the Lower Falls) and the falls will be on the right.

Harrisville Quadrangle

The Jenny Creek, which is no more than 4.8 miles long, contains at least four waterfalls on about a two mile stretch of the waterway.  The one most downstream has a common local name.  The other three are unnamed.  This one is noted on USGS topographical maps simply as "Falls".  It is the fourth and final waterfall that we know of on this stretch.  As such, we have dubbed it the Jenny Creek Upper Falls.

The Jayville Road is paved for the first 0.8 miles and then turns to dirt and gravel.  This waterfall is in the side yard of a private home and will be obvious and visible from the road.  Please note that the area is private and posted.  You have a nice, unobstructed view of the falls from the road.  Please respect the homeowner's property and rights.

The falls drop in four or five steps totaling about 10 feet.  The pictures we have here were taken from the road.  We are trying to contact the landowner to get permission to access the creek-bed to get better pictures.

The Jenny Creek flows into the Big Creek which flows into the West Branch of the Oswegathchie River.  This joins the main channel of the Oswegatchie near the hamlet of Talcville in the town of Edwards.  From here it flows into the St. Lawrence River in Ogdensburg.
