This facility is affiliated with the Adirondack Mountain Club.
The day use fee in 2021 was $15.00. The discounted fee for
ADK members was only $7.00.
The Indian Pass Trail begins at the
parking lot. It takes you past the front of the entrance
shack and follows the shore of Heart
Lake before bearing off. About 2 miles down the trail, you
will find a side trail that takes you to Indian Pass Brook.
When you reach the brook, take a left and follow the trail
upstream. It will take you to the base of the waterfall.
This is an officially named waterfall of only about six feet.
It is not very large but it is a very picturesque and serene setting.
The Indian Pass Brook empties into the West Branch of the Ausable
River. The west branch joins forces with the east branch in
Ausable Forks. The combined Ausable River empties into Lake
Champlain in the town of Peru.
The Heart Lake area by the Adirondack Loj provides the access
for Rocky Falls, MacIntyre Brook Falls, Indian Falls and the Lake
Colden Tributary Falls. Considering the length of the hike
to these areas, you might want to consider grouping these together.
