The trail starts by climbing a staircase and taking a
bridge over the Adirondack Northway. Portions of the
trail follow the path of an old incline railway that
used to take guests to a hotel that sat upon the peak of
the mountain. The railway and hotel are long gone but
remnants remain. At 0.7 mile from the trailhead the
trail crosses Prospect Mountain Highway. A few yards
after reentering the trail on the other side of the road
you will see a small 1' fall and pool (see photo).
Please note that the main waterfall on this stream
lies about 0.3 of a mile upstream.
This unnamed stream probably empties into Lake George. The water
from this then flows through La Chute into Lake Champlain.
The flow then goes north through Canada on the Richelieu River and
empties into the St. Lawrence River.
