This is a continuation of our hike on the Butternut
Brook Tributary.

 The next drop, which we are
referring to as Falls #4, is another 1/4 mile or so
upstream. It is a four-part waterfall having about
a 25' total drop.
To get from Butternut Brook Tributary Falls #3 to
#4, you will need to go off trail. The good news is
that it is relatively easy hike. From the base of
Falls #3, climb up the right side embankment of the
falls, this is the toughest part. Staying near the
tributary, follow it upstream about 2/10 mile to the
base of Falls #4. You will pass a few small pretty
cascades along the way.
After viewing Falls #4, continue upstream for about
3/10 of a mile. to get back to the trail. Along the
way you will pass by some more nice, small
cascades. You will also encounter some downfall to
climb over and you will have to work your way around
some of the landscape, but nothing too bad, just
keep following the tributary. Eventually, the
tributary will split, follow the right side of the
split a short distance back to the trail, turn left
on the trail and go about 50 yards to Falls #5,
which will be about 20 yards off the left side of
the trail.
This tributary flows into the Butternut Brook just above
Butternut Brook Falls #4. Butternut Brook empties into Lake George.
The flow then goes north through LaChute, Lake Champlain and
then through Canada on the Richelieu River. It eventually
empties into the St. Lawrence River.
