The information and picture was provided by a contributor,
George Senft of Albany, New York. We have not yet been
here. We would like to thank him for submitting this and
letting us know about it. We would also like to thank
www.everytrail.com. We used their directions to locate
the Black Mountain Trailhead, which is the starting point
indicated in the directions side-bar.
After hiking 0.3 miles on the trail, take the Jeep Trail that
goes around the west side of Sugarloaf Mountain. It
eventually turns west and you reach the creek about 1.4 miles
from the start. Follow the creek downhill 1/3 mile (off
trails) to the main falls which we have dubbed
Elephant Mountain Falls.
This waterfall is about 100' upstream from the main waterfall
at this location. They are both unnamed falls on an
unnamed creek. We are under the impression that there are
a number of other small waterfalls in this area.
If anyone else has any information on this area, please feel
free to contact us.
This waterfall is about mid-way on this unnamed creek, which
is not much more that 2.5 miles long, As mentioned, it
starts on the side of Black Mountain and it flows into Lake
George at Cook Bay, near the hamlet of Huletts Landing.
The water from Lake George reaches Lake Champlain through
LaChute.
