The eighth and final drop before reaching Fairy Ladder Falls
is another 8 minutes or so above Falls #7. This is a 12
footer .
At this point,
you have a choice or two to make. You can continue
upstream where you will come to Fairytale Ladder Falls.
Option 2 is to continue on to Indian Head. This is a
scenic overlook area where you have a very beautiful view of
Ausable Lake. Option 3, if
you've had enough for the day, reverse course and head back to
the parking lot, or any other destination in the AMR that you
may choose. This region is a waterfall lover's paradise.
The Gill Brook empties into the East Branch of the Ausable River
not far downstream from here. The east branch joins forces
with the west branch at Au Sable Forks to form the Ausable River,
which empties into Lake Champlain in the town of Peru.
