Putnam Mt. Quadrangle

Both this waterfall and the stream it is on are not named.  We are calling it the Schumann Preserve Waterfall for the sake of cataloging it.  It is probably a seasonal waterfall.  These photos were taken on June 18, 2025, our second visit to the falls.  The first trip last summer it was nearly dry.

Follow the Orange Trail 0.7 miles to the Gazebo overlooking Lake George. This section is fairly steep but easy to follow.  From there follow the Blue Trail which is fairly flat for 0.9 mile to the Loop section.  Take the loop to the right for 0.1 mile to the bottom of the falls.
This waterfall has a total drop of 25'-30’.  Although it is seasonal and flows at a low volume even in the spring and early summer, it is a very pretty setting and a nice hike.  You can take the loop trail in either direction to get to the top of the falls.
The last photo is taken just downstream from where the trail crosses the stream.  Next time I go back I may explore further downstream as it looks like there may be potential for more water features.

This unnamed stream empties into Lake George at Warner Bay.  The water from this then flows through La Chute into Lake Champlain.  The flow then goes north through Canada on the Richelieu River and empties into the St. Lawrence River.
