Our thanks to Gary Dilmore for his picture and information on
this waterfalls.
To reach Falls #4 be prepared to go off trail a few hundred
yards to reach the falls. Also, be prepared to do a little
bush whacking and searching as there is no trail or path.
FYI, after Falls #2, the hiking trail and Falls Brook are
separated by a hill that is in-between them, so you will not
see Falls Brook along side the trail at all after Falls #2.
From the trailhead, hike up the trail approximately 1.3
miles. At that point, we reached a small dried up,
rocky stream crossing that likely comes from a small pond at
the top of the hill on the right side of the trail. Follow
the dry stream bed to the left, heading down towards Falls
Brook. After about 100 yards the stream bed ended so we
used our GPS to help us continue towards Falls Brook. We
happened to reach Falls Brook just upstream from the falls
(we could see the water disappearing over the edge of the
falls) so we worked our way downstream about 20 yards past
the bottom of the falls and then down to the stream and back
up to the bottom of the falls. Falls #4 has 2 drops for a
total of about 12' with a small pool in between and another
pool at the bottom of the falls.
Falls #3 - Information we received shows Falls #3 downstream
from #4 approximately 200 yards. Due to time restrictions
we were not able to make it to Falls #3. It looks like the
bush whacking and the terrain could be a bit more extreme
than what we experienced to reach #4 so if you choose to
search for Falls #3 be prepared for an adventure.
Falls Brook enters Minerva Stream. This
enters Trout Brook just east of Olmstedville. This joins
Schroon River near Pottersville/Exit 26 of I-87. The
Schroon flows into the Hudson River just west of Warrensburg.
This flows to the Atlantic Ocean.
