To clarify, this is private property, but it is a business, specifically
a Bed and Breakfast. The main building is an old three-story
mill that the current owners renovated into the facility.
They did the renovations themselves and are very proud of the facility,
as well they should be. They have owned and operated this
for over 20 years. It is quaint, unique, interesting and inarguably,
beautiful. We met the owners when we were there and had a
very nice chat with them.
There is another small building on the premises that also houses
guests, and they own a couple of other buildings upstream.
One of these is called the Cliffside Cottage, which they also rent.
The waterfall here is actually a series of drops. The first
photo in our array shows the first two drops that are just upstream
from the cottage. These are an estimated five and eight feet.
The rest of the waterfall pictures show the drops behind the mill. The
one most upstream in this area is a curtain cascade of about ten
to twelve feet which leads into a slide that drops an estimated
15'. At the bottom of this slide is a cascade of another ten
feet or so. Between the drops at the cottage and the stretch
behind the inn, the river drops over 50' through here..
The Timmerman Creek empties into the Mohawk River about 1-1/4
mile downstream from this location. This flows into the Hudson
before reaching the Atlantic Ocean.
