A trail leads from the
parking area to a foot-bridge over the falls. This is within
site of the parking area. The trails here are no longer maintained,
but passable.
There are multiple drops in this waterfalls. Depending
upon who is counting, or how you count, there are five or six drops
in this section. The first drop is by the road, upstream from
the footbridge. It is an "S" shaped drop of about
25'. The second drop is a slide through a ravine just above
and under the foot-bridge that ends in another drop.
There
are two more drops further downstream. The hike itself
isn't long but the trail is a bit difficult to find. Just
keep bearing toward the creek. It is a bit of a scramble
to get to the bottom section but it is worth the hike to see
them.
The Ransom Creek empties into Kyser Lake, which is a wide spot
in the East Canada Creek. This flows into the Mohawk River,
which then flows into the Hudson before reaching the Atlantic Ocean.
