Your view of this waterfall
is quite distant, perhaps 700', but quite clear and unobstructed.
Someone, probably the town, has set up a couple of park benches
at the top of this hill at the overlook that looks down on this
site. Unless you are are floating down the creek, you won't
get any closer than this.
Due to the distance, it is difficult to judge, but we estimate
that the height of this falls is close to 35' at a fairly wide spot
in the creek, close to 400'. It is our understanding that
there is a road leading into this area, but it is gated and has
No Trespassing signs, so it appears that it is on private property.
Because of that, and because this vantage provided such a nice view,
we didn't even go looking for the entrance.
Some of these pictures were taken in very early spring.
They show ice on the creek and very little flow. We don't
know if that is because of the weather conditions of if it is because
of the reservoir upstream. The Hinckley Dam and Reservoir
is only two miles above this location and probably controls much
of this area. This is just upstream of the Trenton Falls Scenic
Trail area.
The West Canada Creek empties into the Mohawk River, which then
flows into the Hudson before reaching the Atlantic Ocean.
