Primarily a horseshoe shaped falls, it can be seen from the Hope
Bridge, just downstream from it. This bridge spans the
Hudson between the villages of Lake Luzerne and Hadley. A
monument to those who served in the Persian Gulf War is on the Lake
Luzerne side of the bridge.
As with many waterfalls, and as these pictures show, its appearance
changes with the level of flow. During high water, spring
run-off, the entire width of the river is covered with water and
the horse-shoe shape on river right is barely evident. Later
in the summer, when the flow is lessened, river left has little
to no water flowing over the crest.
The Hudson River flows into the Atlantic Ocean.
