To get to Falls #2, continue on the trail until you are a
half mile out from the trailhead. Note that between falls #1 and
Falls #2 there are several small falls, cascades and slides to
check out. Eventually the trail goes away from the brook, but
not too far.
At the half mile point there will be a registration kiosk box
along side the trail as you have now reached State Forest
property.
Twenty yards prior to the registration kiosk you will cross a
stream bed which was dry on our visit. If you look over to your
left from the stream bed, you will see a small trail and DEC
markers on a tree. Follow that trail for about 100 yards
toward Falls Brook. It meanders but is not difficult to follow.
Even if you go off it just work your way toward the brook.
You will see a small footbridge over Falls Brook that leads
to a cabin. You do not need to cross the bridge. Follow
the brook upstream for about 50 yards to reach the falls. The
main part of Falls #2 is about a 10 foot drop with additional drops
and cascades below it.
Falls Brook enters Minerva Stream. This
enters Trout Brook just east of Olmstedville. This joins
Schroon River near Pottersville/Exit 26 of I-87. The
Schroon flows into the Hudson River just west of Warrensburg.
This flows to the Atlantic Ocean.
