An 8 minute hike from Falls #3 will bring you to Falls #4
which is small at only about 3' but that pool is awesome!
After viewing this falls you will want to head to the left
through the woods for about 150 yards til you reach the Buck
Mountain Trail, take a left on the trail and follow it back
to the parking lot, about 1.4 miles.
Please note that in high water it may be inadvisable, if not
impossible for most people to reach Falls #1 & 2.
Alternatively, you could hike up the Buck Mountain Trail
1.4 miles and work downstream from Falls 4 to Falls 3 and
maybe falls 2, then backtrack for the return. I really want
to see the tall slide in higher water so I'll be going back
in the spring to check it out.
Butternut Brook empties into Lake George.
The flow then goes north through LaChute, Lake Champlain and
then through Canada on the Richelieu River. It eventually
empties into the St. Lawrence River.
Webmaster's note: Our thanks to Gary Dilmore for the pictures,
directions and information on this waterfall.
