Lake George Quadrangle

From West Brook Fourth Falls, follow the trail about 0.3 miles to West Brook Fifth Falls.  It is easily viewed from the trail but for a close up look you'll want to follow one of several short paths down to get a closer look.

Fifth Falls is a total of 20' starting at the top with a few stair steps, then a slide leading to a 3' freefall followed by a very long slide into a pool at the bottom.

The top of the falls starts at the confluence of West Brook and an unnamed tributary which will be the subject of 4 more waterfalls.  I hiked about another half mile up West Brook and did not find any more drops.

Our thanks to Gary Dilmore for the photos and information on this location.

West Brook empties into Lake George.  The water from this then flows through La Chute into Lake Champlain.  The flow then goes north through Canada on the Richelieu River and empties into the St. Lawrence River.
