At this parking area, there is a information kiosk telling about
the several hydro facilities in the area, operated by New York
State Gas and Electric Corp (NYSEG). If you walk about 1/4
mile down this road, you will reach the Cadyville Substation.
This waterfall is right next to this.
Since this is just below the main waterfall at the Cadyville
Dam, we have cataloged it as the Cadyville Lower Falls.
You can get a fairly good look at this waterfall, but
unfortunately, we have to apologize for the photos.
Between the chain link fence you have to look through and the
deep gorge you are peering into through the foliage, photo ops
are limited.
We have also included a Bing Maps image of the location.
Our photos are of the area directly under the bridge that you
can't see on the satellite image and the satellite image shows a
section just upstream that we couldn't see from our point on the
crest of the gorge.
If you walk a little further down the road, you will come to the
Cadyville Dam which is home to Cadyville Falls.
The Saranac River empties into Lake Champlain just downstream
in the city of Plattsburgh.
