The trailhead of the Huntley Pond/Blue Ledge Trail is just before
reaching Huntley Pond. We have not yet made this hike.
our information was given to us by Art Harris who has been in this
area several times. This page will be updated once we have
been in there.
The first 0.6 mile of this trail more or less parallels the south
side of Huntley Pond. At that point, the trail turns and heads
southwest for about 1000 feet where it then heads west. In
another 0.6 mile or so, the trail takes a sharp left and heads south
and up a steep hill. When you get on the level, you will hear
the Hudson River. At this point, you should find a way down
the hill to the right. This will be to the northwest.
You will come to the Huntley Pond outlet in about 1500'. The
creek will actually go under ground and you can cross over it on
this "land bridge". Virgin Falls will be just downstream
of where the creek resurfaces, within sight of the Hudson River.
If anyone has any pictures of these waterfalls, we would be very
interested in hearing
from you.
If you continue past Virgin Falls upstream along the banks of
the Hudson, you will come to the
Mink Pond Outlet
Falls.
The outlet of the Huntley Pond flows into the Hudson River which
flows into the Atlantic Ocean at New York City.
Our thanks to Art Harris of Hudson Falls who contacted us with
information about reaching this site.
