Mill Branch Falls

From I-87, Exit 12, go east to US 9.  Take a left and go north until you get to the turn on NY 9P where you should take a right.  Continue on 9P, 1.2 miles past the intersection of NY 423.  At a point known as Maple Shade, turn right onto Brown Road.  Less than 0.2 mile from this point, Brown Road bears left and Putnam Road goes right.  The waterfall is just up from this corner on the right.

Mill Branch FallsAlthough other sources claim otherwise, you can not see this waterfall from the road, at least during most times in the year.  Foliage is an issue.  There is a concrete abutment that looks like it is left over from a bridge or something from the past.  The waterfall forms on the creek that flows under this.

Walk down the embankment to the right/downstream side of this and you will easily find this slide type falls.  It can also be seen from the other side of the stream which can be accessed by going to the intersection and turning left on Putnam Road.

This waterfall may also be known as the Maple Shade Falls.

The Mill Branch empties into Saratoga Lake.  The flow then goes through Fish Creek to the Hudson River in Schuylerville.  The Hudson empties into the Atlantic Ocean in New York City.
